Project 365

325/365
Saturday 20th August 2011. Today, after 11 years, I finally went on the London Eye for the first time!
We started the day with a Duck Tour around London (another of the many tourist things I’ve always wanted to do but, for some reason, never have!), learning lots of interesting new facts about some of London’s most iconic sites. The heavens opened just as we got off our Duck and we sheltered in the Southbank Centre for over an hour, waiting for it to stop!
In a bid to escape the rain, we spent the rest of the afternoon at the Imperial War Museum, before returning to Waterloo for our wine tasting experience ride on the London Eye. It lasted an hour, as the experience included two goes round on the Eye, during which time we sampled four different wines, whilst being taught what to look out for in the appearance, fragrance and flavours of each.
Ann and Gary met up with a couple of friends this evening, while Josh and I went out with my friends for Dan’s birthday. We started the night with a Chinese buffet, followed by a wild goose chase across London, hunting for a bar which later turned out to have been right where we started! Rather than going back, we wandered around Chinatown for a while, before settling on O’Neill’s as the best option! After O’Neills we spent less than 5 minutes in a very busy gay bar, before finishing the night at a club with very colourful lights and reasonably priced cocktails. A really brilliant night, and so great to be out having fun with my favourite people again - it doesn’t happen nearly enough anymore!
