Thursday 22nd September 2011. I have the privilege of sharing my birthday with some wonderful people - my best friend Hannah, my ex-roommate Etienne, family friends Malcolm, Raymonde and Andrew, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, Christabel Pankhurst, Chesney Hawkes and Adam Lazzara. Happy birthday to you all - hope it’s been great.
Today was my 22nd birthday and I’ve had a really lovely day. I started the morning with a full English breakfast in bed, complete with presents and cards. It was delicious - cooked to perfection - Josh is so good to me! After breakfast we took my new purse out for a spin, to Ikea. It seemed quite fitting, after my many crises over the last few months about turning 22, to embrace my “old age” by shopping for furniture! I absolutely love Ikea and we had lots of fun looking around, picking things out for our new home. We ended up buying 10 items - including a new coffee table - and lunch (meatballs, naturally) for less than £40. Incredible bargains!
The rest of the day has been a bit more laid back. We assembled and positioned all our new bits and pieces, went to the (very exciting!!) Leamington recycling centre and then went for a walk around Jephson Gardens. We’d planned on feeding the ducks with the leftover toast from breakfast, but ended up throwing a few handfuls at some very uninterested squirrels before abandoning three full slices to a couple of pigeons, who seemed utterly baffled by our intrusion. We got a drink and a muffin (my birthday cake) at the Pump Rooms cafe, before coming home to chill out in our lovely flat. I’m currently very much looking forward to my dinner - Josh is cooking thai!
Today has been perfect - exactly what I wanted. Low-key but lovely.
